Slots Cheats
As you may have read in our online slots machine cheats section, there are a great number of people around the world using different methods to cheat slot machines into doing things they shouldn't do in an attempt to defraud them, but over the years several slot machine operators have also been found guilty of ripping off players by rigging their slot machines not to payout out!
This really is the lowest form of slot machine cheating as an unsuspecting slot player will often be totally oblivious to the fact the slot game they are playing has been tampered with and the player will, in no time at all end up broke, putting it down to simple bad luck!
Slots Cheats - Reel Tampering
One of the ways a corrupt slot machine operator would rip off players was to tamper with the slot machine reel mechanism. The original way in which a slot machine would operate was that once a coin had been inserted the player would then pull the handle, this would force the reels to spin and in theory they would randomly stop, one at a time. Alongside each slot reel symbol was a small metal plate and when the reels had come to a rest a small arm would slip into a groove in this metal plate which would alert the slot machine as to which symbol it had stopped at.
If three matching reel symbols had been spun in then the slot machine would payout the award associated with this winning combination.
However it didn't take dodgy slot machine operators long to realise that if they simply placed a small piece of sticky tape over the groove on one of the reels that was associated with the jackpot symbol this would cause the reel to slip un-noticed by the player, to the next symbol on the reel. This simply meant that one jackpot reel symbol would never, ever spin in, thus ensuring the jackpot combination would never line up on the payline!
By tampering in this way with the natural rhythm of a slot machine would mean massive profits from slot machines, as players would never win large amounts and would only ever win the smaller payout combinations!
Slots Cheats - Coin Hopper Fill
Most modern slot machines have what is known as a coin hopper inside them, this is simply a bucket like object which holds all the coins that are kept inside the slot machine. This is an electronic device, that once a player decides to collect their bank will spin around and fire out coins to the value of the players credit meter.
In the UK for example these coin hoppers usually hold one Pound coins, and should a player have say £250 in the credit mater or players bank then once they press the collect button the hopper will spin around and churn out 250 x £1 coins.
This system is fairly fool proof and reliable and as slot machines are often in areas that are un-supervised or un-manned then this form of slot machine payout can be trusted by slot operators to work with the minimum of maintenance required. But corrupt slot operators or usually their employees will often use these hoppers as a way of scamming the slot playing public.
They do this by mixing in with the £1 coins a certain number of small, low value coins such as a 1 Pence coin, and they will take out of the hopper lets says 50 x £1 coins and replace them with 50 x 1p coins. As players play the slot machines and click the collect button they will often get a few 1 pence coins mixed in with the £1 coins.
As players generally do not count their payouts and simply stuff the coins in their pockets they can often be oblivious that they have just been scammed! Slot machine operators can often pocket thousands of Pounds extra profit over a few months by this form of slot cheat! So always check your payouts is the moral of this story!
